Ignoring Knowledge

Namaste, Welcome to SAM-VAD (Together In Conversation), as we begin today ‘let us remember, ‘What we give our Attention to matters.’

Our life’s experience would ultimately amount to whatever we had paid attention to. Attention: is important and most of the times we are indifferent to it. It is as fundamental as food; and we go blundering about, seeking ways to assuage the craving, instead of learning how to provide ourselves with what we need, sensibly and calmly. Once our attention is drawn to the mechanism of why and what we give attention to, it is as if a veil has been stripped off and we become freer in our action and choices.

This week I bring to your attention a statement titled ‘Time, Place, Manner’ from the book titled ‘Reflections’. It is a collection of fables, aphorisms and statements that challenge the conditioned mind.

It confronts the reader with unaccustomed perspectives and ideas, in an attempt to set the mind free so as to see how things really are.

Time, Place, Manner

Forget the fables of ritualized thought, so that you can remember:

The right thing said at the right time in the right way will almost never be the popular thing at the popular time in the conventionalized way.

Much knowledge is ignored, discarded or opposed because it is not apparently from an expected source, projected in a desired fashion, presented in a comfortable (or modishly uncomfortable) manner.
